My love for children and desire to help them has led me through many career paths. My first job at age 14 was as a teacher’s helper at a daycare in my neighborhood. By age 19, I was a director of a daycare before moving to Mexico with my family for 3 years. Eventually, I had seven children of my own and returned to school for a master’s degree in education. I have been a children’s director at a church in the New Orleans area for almost 2 years after Hurricane Katrina where our children’s programs went from just a few kids to over 300. After moving back to Texas, I went to work in the public schools teaching high school English and ESL. As a high school teacher, I spent a lot of time being frustrated by how far behind students were by the time I got them. Though they made progress, one year wasn't long enough to get them caught up to where they needed to be to be successful in high school or life. I always believed that we could change the world through education, but it became clear that this education had to start at birth. When I became a mother of 12 by adopting five siblings from foster care, I retired from teaching and moved my focus from high school to early childhood education. Our mission is to provide quality childcare to area families and improve lives by educating their children and supporting their parents.
